One of the questions
everyone seems to ask us is, who is Swan Creek named after?
Well, according to the staff of the Main Librarys
Northwest Room, when the Puyallup Indian
Reservation was open for settlement by the United States government in 1893,
John Swan, a Puyallup Indian, was given title to land along a small creek which
flowed northward into the Puyallup River at the eastern limits of the City of
Tacoma. The creek soon became known as Swan Creek.
