Replacing a lost or destroyed Library Card
You
must have a valid Tacoma Public Library card to check out all library
materials.
Lost or Destroyed Library Cards
If
your library card is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately to
any branch of the Tacoma Public Library. You are responsible for all
library materials checked-out on your card until you declare the card
missing and have a stop placed on your record.
A
Tacoma Public Library card which is declared lost or destroyed may no
longer be used to borrow materials, even if it is subsequently located
by the person to whom it was issued. Once a card has been declared
lost or stolen the card number will no longer work with our computer
system.
If
you have declared your card missing or destroyed you must re apply for
a new library card. To do this, you must present current, acceptable
photo identification (drivers license, passport, visa, INS card,
or state, military, local school or employee id.), verify your home
address, and pay in full all outstanding charges on your record before
a new card will be issued.
There
is a $1.00 charge to replace each lost or damaged Tacoma Public
Library card.
Annual Library Card Update
The
Tacoma Public Library updates all cardholder registrations once each
year. To update a personal registration, we ask each patron, upon
presentation of the Library card at check-out to state his/her name,
residential address and telephone number. On occasion the Library may
ask a patron state their date of birth and/or present photo
identification to verify this information. Library cards issued to non
residents, to Tacoma property or business owners, and to agencies have
different annual update requirements. All library fines must be paid
in full in order to complete the annual registration update. You must
present your library card in order to update it. A card is not valid
until it is updated.
A
Tacoma Public Library card is your key to a universe of information
and entertainment. We hope you will cherish it, guard it, and use it
wisely
